Mary Beth found some info on charities that accept single sock donations for amputees and for folks who wear two different sizes. She went to the Amputee Coalition of America, searched their web boards, and found the following.
"The One Shoe Crew’s purpose is to provide shoes for amputees and others who wear one shoe or different size shoes. All services are free for U.S. veterans. There is a $3.00 registration fee for all services (lifetime membership). Call, email or write, and send a #10 S.A.S.E. for details and a registration form."
